Together We Stand

MPC is part of a movement called ECO across Florida and the nation and here are some of our core values:

Accountable Community:
We believe guidance is a corporate spiritual experience. We want to connect leaders to one another in healthy relationships of accountability, synergy, and care.

Egalitarian Ministry:
We believe in unleashing the ministry gifts of women, men, and every ethnic group.

Missional Centrality:
We believe in living out the whole of the Great Commission – including evangelism, spiritual formation, compassion, and redemptive justice – in our communities and around the world.

Center-focused Spirituality:
We believe in calling people to the core of what it means to be followers of Jesus – what “mere Christianity” is and does – and not fixate on the boundaries.

Leadership Velocity:
We believe identifying and developing gospel-centered leaders is critical for the church, and a great leadership culture is risk-taking, innovative, and organic.

Kingdom Vitality:
We believe congregations should vigorously reproduce new missional communities to expand the Kingdom of God.

A Family

We are a welcoming, loving church family. We pray for each other, we encourage one another and we bear each other’s burdens. We thoughtfully engage with the Bible to learn, teach and disciple those who are already known and loved by our community, and those we do not yet know well. We are a small community that is part of God’s vast and collective church that stretches around the world and throughout time. We gather weekly at a beautiful, traditional church building at 1300 S. Olive Avenue, and we gather throughout the week in small groups and one-on-one as we live out our faith together. We are grateful for our physical church building, and we are aware that church in the fuller sense is with us wherever we go beyond the walls of our courtyard.

Sunday Mornings

We love Sunday morning! Here’s what to expect on Sundays:

  • A variety of adult Sunday School classes begin at 9:15 a.m. in our Education Building. Childcare provided. Please come on in and we will welcome you warmly.
  • Worship at 10:30 a.m. in our Sanctuary
  • People of all ages – including children – are very welcome!
  • We start with music! We appreciate a range of musical styles from contemporary songs led by our praise band to traditional hymns and organ music. We think it’s a beautiful balance and hope you will too.
  • Children under age 2 may be checked into the nursery before worship begins, or they may accompany their parents into the sanctuary. All children older than age 2 attend the first 15 minutes of our worship service to enjoy the music and a brief children’s sermon. Following the Children’s Sermon, they are led to the Education Building for age-appropriate children’s church taught by members of our congregation. A Parent’s Room is located adjacent to the sanctuary and is setup for nursing or soothing infants. That said, we love the joyful noises of children!

Believe with Each Other

We gather together in small groups throughout the week to live out our faith together. Here are a selection of ongoing small groups:

Monday Night Women’s Bible Study

This group of women of all ages has been meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Mondays in homes within a couple of miles of our church for nearly 10 years. The study attracts a diverse group of women of all ages, all life stages and various backgrounds. We share a light meal followed by a scripture-based Bible study led by Carrie Bare, wife of our co-pastor Randy Bare, and Associate Regional Director of Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship. We close by praying for each other, and we continue by praying for each other throughout the week. Attendance at Memorial Presbyterian Church is not a requirement for attending the study.

Monday Night Men’s Bible Study

This group of men, many of whom are approaching or enjoying midlife, meets on Monday evenings in a home within a couple of miles of our church. The study, led by our co-pastor, Randy Bare, covers a variety of Christian books and topics of interest to men. Attendance at Memorial Presbyterian Church is not a requirement for attending the study.

MPC Commons

This group, led by Co-pastor, Dan Carlson, and his wife, Assistant Pastor Krista Carlson, meets on Sunday evenings on the church grounds. Participants are asked to be interested in committing to regular attendance so that the group can get to know each other well and share each other’s joys and burdens. Childcare is available, and children participate in some activities with adults.
